Another grandbaby on the way....

These are what we found this weekend on Toll House squares baked by Brandon. He is so clever!! But it got the point across even if the pesky brother-in-law Tim was having trouble figuring it out. Samantha and Brandon are expecting a baby!! This baby is due around February 16. I am personally hoping for Valentine's Day!!
The beaming mother-to-be and her one year old niece......
Note: This baby will be referred to as Bean for the time being. I got parental permission and besides, Fritz has already been used.....

Wedding Photographer

Brandon got to photograph his first wedding a couple of weekends ago. He took lots of pictures and did a great job.

The photographer was everywhere.....
The cute and talented photographer and his gorgeous wife. (Note: photos should not be taken where things appear to be growing out of people's heads. Or letting the camera strap cover a corner of the picture.)

Jonathan at a week

I took these pictures of Jonathan last weekend. I forgot to take my camera today.

Canoeing

We decided to take advantage of what will probably be one of our last free weekends before football starts. We took a canoe trip down the Brazos River. We drove the motorcycle to Whitney, rented a canoe, and got in the water about 9:30 AM.
The scenery along the river was really pretty. But it didn't take us long to realize that the river level was way, way down. Thank goodness we wore tennis shoes.
This was one of the places where the water was somewhat deep. There were several canoes that left ahead of us that we caught up with.
A small spring fed waterfall.
The cliffs along the river were very visible due to the lack of rainfall in our area. Many people were fishing from their canoes and having pretty good luck.
Greg spotted this large spider and put me, with the camera, as close to it as possible.
I assume that just the top of this large rock would be visible when the water is higher.
It was very quiet during the trip, with the occasional voice of another canoe-er interrupting the silence. We stopped on the river bank and ate the lunch we packed.
I didn't get any pictures of us when we were out of the canoe, dragging it through the shallow spots. The whole trip was 8 miles and I think we walked about 5 of them. Greg says I am exaggerating and it was probably only about 1 mile that we walked....it just SEEMED like 5!!
Thank goodness for sunscreen. It was 100 degrees and most of the trip was in the sun. We arrived back at our vehicle at about 3:10 PM. We were pretty tired and still had an hour drive home on the motorcycle. Even with all the whining I did about dragging the canoe, it was a very fun day.

New pictures.......

I took these pictures this morning. Jonathan didn't have his toboggan on.
I stayed the morning with mom and baby while dad went home to shower, pick up some things, and take a nap. He looked much better at noon upon his return to the hospital. Then Mimi went to work.
They are supposed to go home tomorrow. I know the family will all rest better once they get out of the hospital. They about drove me crazy this morning because someone was coming into the room every 30 minutes or so to do something either to the baby or to mom. Just about the time everyone would get settled and napping (or almost napping), the door would open and someone else would come in. It was tiring ME out!!
The baby does well when he is swaddled. I watched the nurse wrap him this morning and I can wind him up in his blanket to where he is about the size of a football. He loves it!!

Pensacola Part III

Friday morning, we headed to the Cafe for breakfast again. There are some beautiful homes along the bayou on the way.

A huge, blooming century plant that Millie told me to be sure and take a look at.
The evening we arrived, Greg asked his sister if he could take her kids for a ride. Her answer without even missing a beat was "no", having remembered a certain ride with her brother on a minibike many years ago. But by Friday afternoon, her kids had asked her if they could take a ride with Uncle Greg and she said "yes". This is Uncle Greg and Tanky giving a "thumbs up".
The niece was next with her and Uncle Greg both giving "thumbs up".
Next thing I knew, the mom had climbed on the bike with her brother. She obviously had forgiven him for his biking transgressions of the past. Everyone had told him to go slow, but then after one time around the block, decided that a little speed would be fun. Of course, Greg saved the best for his sister. This picture was taken right before he hit the throttle and all we could hear was a continuous scream coming from the back of the motorcycle as it sped off down the street. She appears to be smiling at this point......
We left for Texas early on Saturday morning, getting on the road at 6:30 AM, after coffee and a short visit with Millie at the Cafe. It was a long day on the road, with many breaks to stretch and get the circulation back in our hineys, and a few times of donning rainsuits. We arrived back at home around 8:00 PM, having ridden 725 miles. We were tired, but home safe and sound.
