Jonathan

Poor Jonathan. He has just not been able to shake his cold. It has now settled in his eyes, his ears, and his sinuses. But he has still been in a decent mood. He has been napping a bit.
He does NOT like to see you coming at him with a tissue. His poor little red nose.....I think he was making a face because I used the flash. He loves to sit in a laundry basket and play with toys.

Powerlifting at Moody

A couple of weeks ago, Morgan had a meet at Moody. These are the team shirts.
The pictures really don't do them justice. Could they have found a brighter color? Coach Beasley keeping an eye on Morgan.

Girls acting silly.
Morgan placed third in her weight class. We have a couple of weeks break before going to Reicher on the 14th.

Happy 50th Birthday, Brenda!!

My sister turns 50 today. Someone put this picture all over the courthouse where we work.......
Brenda was very uncooperative this morning. She would not wear her tiara or beads for a picture. So we got the monkey instead. Her office was filled with black balloons and streamers. Don't know who did that either.......

Happy Birthday, youngster......luv ya, paula

Smile for Wednesday

I hijacked this picture from Jeremy's blog. It makes me laugh....the leaning back, the arm on the edge of the basket, and the expression on his face.....Jonathan looks like he is waiting for a bus....

The day off

Since I didn't have to work at the office today, I decided to work at home. I threw away some papers, cleaned up the computer desk, stripped and remade the bed, bathed the dog, went through some old photos. I have been known to be working on something in one room, find it necessary to take something to another room, and start working in there, abandoning the original job. I certainly stayed busy all day but can't put my finger on any big project that I accomplished today. I did decide to make a special dinner since I was home. I hadn't made these chicken breasts with artichokes hearts in wine sauce in a very long time. In fact, Greg had never had them before. I also make some yummy french onion rice, as well as some steamed vegetables. I found some Fredericksburg peaches in the freezer so made a peach cobbler.
Now all we need is some vanilla ice cream.......

Sunday visit

We went to see Charley one last time tonight before she went home to Round Rock on Monday. Since her daddy says they are about to become hermits, wasn't sure when we would see her again.
She likes to sleep. I don't know that I have truly seen her eyes yet....I had to include this picture. She looks like she is laughing.
I changed the white balance on the camera at this point and it gave the pictures a bit less red tint. I just had to unwrap her and look at her again. And that was when she began to stretch.
She looks so peaceful here. I haven't heard her do much more than squeak a time or two.
Not a care in the world. She knows mom will be here shortly to feed her.
We are so blessed!!

It's Powerlifting Season again!!!

Saturday, we spent the day at Morgan's powerlifting meet in China Spring.
Morgan won third place in her weight class. Way to go Morgan!!

Jonathan says "AHHHHH! Sic em Bears!!!

Something new has been added......

Greg and I went up to see Charley tonight at the hospital. She is still in NICU but doing great. She no longer has any help breathing and is starting to nurse. We got to the hospital a bit ahead of the parents so that we could have some time with her before they came in to feed her. This is what we found......what a cute hat!!!
Papa even held her for a bit......
Isn't this just the cutest thing?????
Can't wait for Charley to come home so that life gets a bit easier for her mom and dad.
Charley slept through the whole thing but we certainly enjoyed our visit!!

Charlotte Anne Dieterich arrives!!

Wow!! What a day this has been!! Baby Bean decided that she was ready to be born even though she wasn't due for another six weeks. The hospital in Round Rock doesn't have an NICU unit so they took an ambulance ride to Temple, which is about 30 minutes from Waco, to the Scott & White Hospital there. Charlotte (aka Charley) was born at 9:27 AM, weighing 5 lbs 3.5 oz and 17 inches long. She had a bit of a breathing issue in the beginning so she was put on a ventilator but some time after lunch it was removed. All she has now is the small tubes at her nose called a canula.
Look at all that hair!!
Samantha was a real trooper! She looked great after Charlotte was born.I can hardly wait to hold her. Only mom and dad have gotten to so far.
Samantha is doing so well that she is hoping they will let her go very soon, although if Charley stays for a few days, it will certainly be easier if Samantha can be at the hospital too. Guess we will just have to wait and see.
We are so thankful that the delivery went well and the new grandbaby and her mom and dad are fine.
Life is good!!

Cold season

Poor Jonathan, he has had a yucky cold, including a cough. His mommy says he is feeling better. My symptoms started Wednesday, not sure if it was Jonathan's cold or possibly something I got from the kids in the church nursery on Sunday. I don't feel badly, my head is just stuffed up, throat sore, scratchy voice. Hopefully this is as bad as it gets.

Jonathan at a happier time.....

Yikes!!!

After dinner tonight, Greg was working on a test for his kids at his laptop and I pulled a couple of family recipe books to look through. I LOVE recipes and have tons of them. Millie and I discussed just how we could organize them but we didn't come up with anything. Anyway, I was looking in the Kelly cookbook and I turned a page and did a double take. Wait, that guy on the back row, in the middle, it looked just like Greg!!! I knew it had to be his dad because of the resemblance. I called him in to look at it and he confirmed that it was indeed his dad. It was really a bit eerie, it was like looking at Greg in an old picture. (This picture just didn't scan as good as I would have liked, but take it from me, it could be Greg standing there, no mustache, flat top/hairline and all.)

Zebra Plant

The supervisor got me this plant for my birthday. My coworker, The Wife, informed me that she had to bring it back to life while I was out during the holidays. It appears to be a bit touchy where water is concerned. I thought it was called zebra plant but it has been a long time since I have really studied on my plant names. Googled it and sure enough, my memory was right this time!!!

Just how many ways can you fix oysters?

Yesterday, I was trying desperately to figure out ways to use up the shrimp and oysters that we had left. Morgan's friend, Shane, was coming over and she wanted him to try halfshells so Greg shucked about three dozen or so. I searched the internet for some type of seafood stew/gumbo/soup and the final product wasn't too bad. I didn't have okra, which would have made it gumbo, so we will just call it seafood stew. It had carrots, bell pepper, garlic, onions sauteed in bacon, stewed tomatoes, a small amount of white wine, rice, shrimp, and oysters. I went a bit light on the seasonings as I didn't want it to be too hot. It was good, but lacking. Today, when I reheated it for lunch, I added a can of rotel tomatoes with chilis and a couple more pinches of cayenne pepper. Now we were talking!! Yum!!

There were about six oysters in the ice chest today when we were working here at the house. I asked Greg, "do we have to eat anymore oysters?" I can't believe I actually said that!! I know it won't be long before I will be wanting them again but for now, I am about oyster-ed out. I pitched the last few away, albeit regretfully in thinking how good they have been!!!

Happy 2nd Anniversary to us!!

Whew!! We made it two years!! And what did we do to celebrate? Would you believe watch a high school basketball game? Someone didn't scratch the date and was assigned a couple of games to referee. When Greg asked me how many more years I thought I could put up with him, I told him that there were times when he might want to count in minutes rather than years....... :)

To his credit, Greg did take me out for Mexican food after the games were over.
Luv you, honey!!

Happy 2009!!!

Today has been spent doing things around the house. Still trying to get organized and things put away from Christmas. I have un-decorated the tree already but need to find a box or bag for our tree as the box was in such bad shape that we threw it away. I soaked black eyed peas last night and started cooking them mid-morning. I threw in a few things and they were really good. Greg bragged that they were the best I had ever made!! We had orange juice so added some champagne for mimosas, toasting in the New Year. We only let Morgan have one glass since she was going to work after lunch!! We are just chilling out at the house now. Hope to wash the vehicles before dark, then will probably have more seafood for dinner.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy New Year!!
