Sandfest 2011

After Carter's party, we met Brandon for dinner before he went to do a photo shoot for a prom in town.

Happy 1st Birthday Carter!!!

Carter celebrated his first birthday today.

He wasn't quite sure why there were so many people at his house!!!

Daddy and Carter

Mimi and Papa got Carter a brand new red wagon, a sock monkey jack-in-the-box, clothes, and other stuff. The jack-in-the-box was quite a hit!!!

I think Carter had a great time!! Hope he sleeps well tonight!!!

New Oven

I didn't get a 'before' picture with my almost 30 year old oven. The old one came out pretty easily. The new one took a bit of work.

I love the continuous grates across the top, that way I can just slide my pots/pans around on the top rather than pick them up, which makes it much easier since I am not supposed to be lifting a lot yet.

The controls for the stovetop and the oven are also on the top, which makes it much more kid safe for the grandkids. And it has a little oven on the top, just large enough for me and Greg, and a large oven on the bottom. Haven't had the chance to cook on it a lot yet but so far, I really like it!!

Fun Visit

Greg's Uncle Ed rode a bus from Indiana with 40+ other farmers/ranchers to Fort Worth, where they toured farms and ranches in the area. We drove up Tuesday evening and had dinner with him. We had a great visit!!!

Skeeters

Carter is getting so big!! He will be a year old in April!!! He is walking/running everywhere!! He would NOT smile for me when I was trying to take his picture, he would do it as soon as I put the camera down....

Hair

Woohoo!! I styled my own hair twice this weekend!!! That is a big deal when I haven't been able to raise my right arm/hand to my head for 7 weeks!!!

Sunrise

My dear YOUNGER sister has been coming to the house every morning at 7 AM to blow dry my hair for me. Yesterday morning after she got here, I saw the sun coming up in the mirror and had to go out and take a picture, wet head and all. The colors were beautiful!! (The picture doesn't do it justice at all!!)

6 week post op---bye bye sling!!!

I am so excited!! Saw the surgeon today for my six week follow up and he says I no longer have to wear this awful thing!! Now the fun begins, getting my shoulder back to normal.....hopefully the therapy won't kill me, sometimes it feels like it will!!!

President's Day

Finally got to use my Mother's Day gift card to LaBella Visage.....my nails were long enough and I had a day off to have it done!! And I still have enough left on the card to get another!!! Woohoo!!

Basketball

Basketball is winding down. Greg volunteered to referee special olympics basketball on Saturday morning. They take the game very seriously!!!

Then that evening, he had a TAPPS boys playoff game. He has softball tonight, and another playoff basketball game tomorrow evening.....who knows what the rest of the week holds....it is always hectic when the sports overlap!!!

AMAZING!!!

This is what the goldfish tank looked like starting on Tuesday, and it only got colder and colder as the week went on. The boy's dad used to tell the story about his family going on vacation and they didn't want to have someone come take care of their goldfish that they had at the time, so they would put it in an ice tray and freeze it. And then thaw it out when they got home and it would be fine. All these years, I was thinking "yeah, right", sounded a lot like the tall tales in the movie Big Fish. The weather finally got above freezing for a while on Friday, then yesterday it was warmer all day long. Today it is probably in the 70's and we pulled the tank into the sun so it would thaw.

The goldfish are ALIVE!! The smaller one is a different type of goldfish and she seems to be struggling, I think her little front fins must have frozen!!

If I hadn't seen it myself, I wouldn't have believed it!! And Brandon, "ye of little faith"......I guess it wasn't a tall tale after all!!!!

Snow Day!!!

Woohoo!! Another day at home this week!!!

Hmmmm.....wonder if the goldfish are cold????

She isn't too wild about it now but I think once she figures out that it keeps her back warm, she might just realize how great this is!!! Outside cat is in the house sleeping on blanket on the freezer, we have water and electricity, heater is working (no rolling outtages since I got home), baked potato soup for dinner......thankful for so many things!!!
